Who we are

Our Story | Founded in 2016, the National Black Prosecutors Foundation (NBPF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships, fellowships, and mentorship to law students who demonstrate a desire to serve the community as prosecutors. In 2021, the NBPF expanded its outreach and launched a fellowship program that provides funding, placement, and mentorship to law students who participate in a competitive 8 – 10 week non-paid internship at prosecuting offices.

Our Why | Studies have revealed a lack of diversity in the field of prosecution, as well as in the numbers of elected prosecutors. The weight of student loans make working in the public sector unattainable for many diverse candidates. Through scholarship awards, fellowship opportunities, and mentorship, the NBPF strives to increase the applicant pool of diverse candidates at prosecuting offices.

Our Impact | Since our inception, we have provided 27 law students financial awards through our scholarship and fellowship programs. Through your donations and strategic partnerships, the NBPF has awarded $67,500 to scholars and fellows to assist them with their law school expenses and ease the financial burden of unpaid internships at prosecuting offices.
