Building a pipeline of Black prosecutors.

Supporting law students.

Founded in 1983, the National Black Prosecutors Association (NBPA) is the only organization dedicated to ensuring the hiring, retention, and promotion of Black prosecutors at all levels of government. In 2016, the NBPA expanded its mission by creating the National Black Prosecutors Foundation (NBPF), a 501(c)(3) organization, to support the next generation of law students passionate about pursuing a career in prosecution.

Financial Assistance

In recognizing the financial hardships that prevent some students from securing unpaid internships, the NBPF Fellowship Program allows students to explore a career in prosecution while providing them with a stipend to offset costs.

The NBPF also awards multiple academic scholarships to eligible law students each year through its Scholarship Program.

Mentorship

The NBPF partners with the National Black Prosecutors Association (NBPA) to provide NBPF Scholars and Fellows with mentorship and support from its members. The NBPA’s membership consists of over 400 prosecutors at all levels of government and in various stages of their careers.

Preparation

Our fellowship program prepares aspiring prosecutors by partnering with local and state prosecuting offices and law schools to recruit and place eligible students in competitive 8 – 10-week summer internship programs across the country. Fellows have an opportunity to appear in court and practice law under the guidance of a licensed attorney.
